Golden Cap, a few miles from our cottage is the highest cliff on the South coast of England and a short and easy walk, through bluebell woods in spring, takes you to the summit viewpoint.

The road from our cottage to Abbotsbury (7 miles east) is one of the most beautiful in England. It follows the glorious sweep of the Chesil beach, one of Europe’s most amazing stretches of natural coastline. Cream teas at Abbey House are worth the visit alone and lovers of art must see Dansel Gallery. There is a tithe barn, ruined monastery and The Swannery and Tropical Garden attractions. Georgian Lyme Regis and Weymouth are typical bustling seaside towns within easy reach.

Everywhere you see and feel the influence of our ancient civilizations and cultural legacies. Dorchester, Weymouth, Maiden Castle and Marshwood vale are sites of great interest. No more than an hour by car are Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door and historic Corfe Castle. Atmospheric Worbarrow bay and Tyneham, the ‘village that died for England’ are near Corfe. Arne nature reserve, Old Harry rocks, the glorious sweep of golden sands, dunes and heath land that form Studland Bay are also within reach of our cottage.

Our nearest beach is sandy and dog friendly all year
