From our window, hares may be seen in the meadows and a Heron swoops over the pond. The cheeky Sparrows, Gold Finches, Wagtails and Long Tail Tits manage to evade the marauding Sparrow Hawk, as do the fat Wood Pigeons. A barn owl nests in the old barns and the Swallows have plenty of open buildings to use for the summer.

North of Milestone barn, on the beautiful coast road lie Wells, Stiffkey, Holkham, Blakeny and our favourite, Burnham-Overy-Staithe. South of our holiday home you will find Happisburgh, Walcott, Hosey and Winterton on Sea. In all of these beautiful places wildlife abounds, sandy beaches stretch for miles and the villages of rustic brick and flint houses warmly welcome visitors.

Cromer is a traditional sea side town and crabbing is good here too. Sheringham has a steam railway and a lovely park with views of the coast and countryside. Bewilderwood, for children of all ages has bewitched us and Great Yarmouth has a long promenade of shops and arcades as well as a sandy beach. Norwich is the most complete medieval town in England, has a vibrant night life and has been voted as one of the best shopping centres in the country. Our local beach has none of these things but it has miles of sands, wide open skies and peace and quiet.

Our local Trimingham beach is dog friendly all year
